Housebound by Audacity writer, Simon Mawdsley.
Upstairs at The Hotspur a comedy one-act play by award winning local writer, Dick Curran.
Housebound. Agoraphobic housewife Lydia hasn’t left her front door in years. Then one afternoon a reluctant villain bursts in—and suddenly the walls she never dared cross become the stage for a very different kind of confinement. In a swift, pulse-measuring hour of hostage and host-turned-something-else, unease turns to empathy, fear gives way to connection—and laughter emerges in the strangest corners.
Upstairs at the Hotspur follows the activities of the Northumberland Nationalist Party – a small, fanatical group dedicated to re-establishing the ancient kingdom of Northumbria. Their current strategy to publicise and advance their cause is to bring the Lindisfarne Gospels back to the North East, by stealing them from the British Library.
